“Branch helped me to find my voice in a working environment; from learning how to pitch to a prospect, to running and managing client meetings. Branch helped me to have the confidence to speak up and lead, not just ‘go with the flow’. Having developed a keen interest in the assessment and selection of people, when I decided I wanted to leave to start my own business, the MD at Branch provided mentoring in the early stages to support in achieving my goals and successfully run my own business. Branch also continued this support even when I was no longer working at Branch.”
Current Position: Strategic Partnership & Alliances Manager at Exasol
Time in Branch: 3 years
Education: Certificate in Business Management (Degree Equivalent) from The Open University
“Branch gave me my first real step into the business world. As they’re a small team, I didn’t have to be a senior member of staff to be given new challenges; I was given the opportunity to take on new roles & responsibilities to progress at each stage of my development and learn key business skills in three years that people in large organisations would learn over a decade. Branch provided me the confidence to network and engage with senior stakeholders and helped me build and hone the skills that I have helped me to succeed in my new role at Exasol.”
Current Position: Inside Sales Account Executive at Adobe
Time in Branch: 1 year
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Architectural Design and Technology, 2:1 from University of Wales, Cardiff
“Branch gave me the core foundation of skills required to be successful in the business world. I gained an understanding of the technology market through working closely with clients to grasp propositions, products and the relevant terms of the industry. It also taught me to improve my people skills; when you spend most of your time speaking to new people, it builds your ability to communicate with potential prospects, deal with objections and understand the key aspects of sales. Everything I learned at Branch has been vital to my subsequent roles, without it, I doubt I would be at a huge company in London at such a good stage in my life so soon.”
Current Position: Senior Outreach Executive at Skills Matter
Time in Branch: 2 years
Education: University of Brighton 2009-2012 Fsc in Sports Science
“Coming from very little experience in sales, Branch helped to build my foundation throughout my time there. I was given the opportunity to work with their biggest client for over a year, including working closely with their MD and spending time in their London offices. Because of this relationship, I was offered the chance to travel out to New York for 3 months to set up their new US offices, working independently to find new clients and strengthen relationships with existing clients in the US. Through having this exposure to the sales world, I learned how to conduct & run meetings, manage pipelines and become an integral part of a growing team; all of these key skills I have taken into my role leading our sales team at Skills Matter.”
